Ivanacara Bimaculata
The Ivanacara Bimaculata, commonly known as the Two-Spot Cichlid or Bimac, is a jewel of the South American dwarf cichlid world. Native to the blackwater rivers of Guyana and Suriname, this species captivates with its iridescent blue-green scales and the striking pair of dark spots that give it its name. During breeding, the male erupts in vivid colour — a display that rivals any reef fish.
A rewarding species for the intermediate cichlid keeper, the Bimac is a devoted parent that forms strong pair bonds and exhibits fascinating brood care behaviour.
