Mystery Snail

The Mystery Snail (Pomacea bridgesii) is one of the most popular and useful invertebrates in the freshwater aquarium hobby. With their smooth, rounded shells available in a spectrum of colours — from ivory and gold to blue and purple — each snail is a living work of art.

Mystery Snails are peaceful, algae-grazing cleaners that help keep tank glass, substrate, and decor free of unwanted buildup. Unlike some snails, they will not reproduce explosively in a closed aquarium — they lay eggs above the waterline, making population control straightforward.

• Temperature: 20–28°C (68–82°F)
• pH: 7.0–8.0 (prefers harder, alkaline water for shell health)
• Adult size: 4–6 cm (1.5–2.5 in)
• Temperament: Peaceful; safe with most community fish
• Diet: Algae, blanched vegetables, sinking wafers, calcium supplements
• Tank size: 40 L (10 gal) minimum
